Social Southwest Florida: October Edition

Grab a cinnamon broomstick and head to your nearest pumpkin patch because the weather is nice, and  everything is pumpkin spice… October is finally here!

Hi it’s Marcus Larrea with Palm Paradise Real Estate and boy do we have a busy month of events ahead of us in Southwest Florida. October is that time of year when the afternoon thunderstorms become less frequent and the nighttime air becomes a bit cooler, making it the perfect setting for heading to some of Southwest Florida’s prime fall festivities with family and friends! 

October Event Calendar

Kicking off the month of October in an exciting way, is Gasparilla Music Festival presented by Coppertail Brewing Company in Downtown Tampa, FL. This event runs Friday October 1st through Sunday October 3rd at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park featuring a variety of local food and beverage options on-site, and performances by award-winning music artists such as Sofi Tukker and Sylvan Esso to support and promote music education through the “Recycled Tunes” program. Tickets range in price and are on sale at Gasparilla Music Festival’s website.

Cape Coral Bike Night is back in full swing, as one of the most popular events of the month resumes on Saturday, October 9th. This biker event has been known to draw in as many as 12,000 attendees from all over Southwest Florida, where friends and family can admire a variety of motorcycles and street bikes lined up along the sides of 47th Terrace from 5 to 10pm. With over 50 vendors selling food, motorcycle gear and accessories, and live rock performances from the main stage, this event can make anyone feel “bad to the bone”…

Are you ready to do the Time Warp again? Ollie’s Records proudly presents the Rocky Horror Picture Show at Botanical Brewing Taproom on Friday, October 15th. Fans will join one of the best performance groups in Southwest Florida, BBCO, in a night that they won’t soon forget celebrating Rocky Horror, with an interactive performance during the movie, an assortment of food trucks, a vendors village and record/vinyl painting! Admittance is $10 at the door and includes a variety of swag to enjoy.

Now in it’s thirteenth year, the Naples International Film Festival is a place for film lovers to connect and celebrate the art of film in a welcoming environment. Ranking amongst the 25 coolest film festivals in the world according to MovieMaker Magazine, the festival itself typically hosts more that 60 screening over the course of four days introducing new and exciting films, as well as their creators to our local community. Beginning on Thursday October 21st and continuing through Sunday October 24th, films and ticket prices are to be announced soon.

Grab your neighbors and your lawn chairs and head to the Whiskey Creek Country Club on Sunday, October 24th for the 4th Annual Whiskey Creek Fall Festival from 3 to 6pm. Fun for the whole family awaits, as the fall festival will be full of food, games, arts & crafts and live music, while enjoying the picturesque community of Whiskey Creek.

Get ready to dust off your lederhosen, as one of Southwest Florida’s premiere events approaches. It’s so large that it actually takes up two weekends! Enjoy the sights and sounds of Cape Coral’s 36th Annual Oktoberfest by the German American Social Club on October 22nd through the 24th, and October 29th through the 31st. Enjoy authentic German food, music, dancing and beer from a long list of vendors, as you celebrate with your friends and family each day, from noon until midnight. Tickets are $6 in advance or $8 at the gate and all event dates operate rain or shine!

Rounding off the month of October, the Naples Stone Crab festival celebrates the opening of the stone crab season on the Naples waterfront October 29th through October 31st. The annual event shows off the historic center of Naples and the bay front businesses that are at the heart of the city. Most festival events are hosted at waterfront businesses and free water taxis are provided to transport you to businesses that are participating.
